Aim of the international conference

The Conservation Colloquia are an annual series of short conferences in Stuttgart on varying themes. It was started in 2005 by the Objects' Conservation Programme of the State Academy of Art and Design. The last conferences were the Archaeological Iron Conservation Colloquium (June 24-26, 2010) and the Ethnographic Objects Colloquium "The Life of Things" (November 11-12, 2011).

The aim is to bring together up-to-date information on conservation projects and research, be it from Stuttgart, the whole of Germany or abroad. It emphasizes discussion and exchange among conservators.

Currently interesting projects are going on in bronze conservation. That's why we have chosen this as next theme. The conference will cover all aspects of the conservation of copper and its alloys including investigation, manufacture, corrosion, conservation methods, and case studies. The Saturday morning is dedicated to Outdoor Bronzes.
